CIVIL SERVICES AND DEMOCRACY

India being the largest democracy in the world is growing very fast in its economic growth. Large democracies means large bureaucracies used to be the concept just after nations got their independence after world war II. The bureaucracy is facing new challenges to scale up the issues the country is facing now. Bureaucracy (IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS officers among others) need to be geared up with a new outlook to meet the growing demands of the democracy.

The task of democracy fulfills the will of its people. The political executive that is ministers are directly accountable to the parliament but bureaucrats are accountable to their senior officers and subsequently to their political heads. Even if political leaders lose in their elections the officers remain in their office till their retirement or till the day they resign or vacate their office. Due to this permanent bureaucracy India is shining high into the world affairs. Be it economy, diplomacy, defense or others India’s height is going higher and higher. Let this bureaucracy brings more and more heights of development in this country.
