ELECTORAL MACHINERY AND CIVIL SERVICES

Recently elections took place in various state assemblies and presidential elections and next general elections are due in 2022 and 2024 respectively. Elections are held to elect their representatives in democracy, so that, the voices of people from their respective constituencies be raised in the national or state assemblies.

To protect the rights of electors and to control the behavior of elected ones becomes the ultimate responsibility of civil servants. In India this duty is assured and performed in an organized manner by Election Commission. The election commission is manned by civil servants, primarily IAS officers. To ascertain that democracy is lived, we need to strengthen this institution.
