Britishers laid the foundations of civil services in our country and Lord Cornwallis is known as the father of Indian Civil Services. The civil service has improved a lot ever since it started working during the British times. The Britishers made it an ‘iron pillar’ to execute the will of the government into the then Indian society.

By the change in the society the civil services have also changed many folds. The syllabus, the pattern of examination and the conduct of examination has changed. This changed pattern is according to the new demands of the type of civil servants required by the society now. This has made this service truly dynamic.
