CIVIL SERVICES IN ITS NEW ROLE…

The novel problems that are encountered by our country need new version of civil servants. The UPSC had given a new version of syllabus to include ethics, integrity and aptitude long back. Though the commission was late but nevertheless it has given its insight into the need of these basics for the upcoming civil servants.

Apart from the knowledge component, the ethical component should have been even higher in the civil servants to enforce public laws in a systematic manner and that too according the prescribed procedure. They are entrusted to participate actively into the socio-economic development of the country, for which they need to be higher on ethical parameter.

The judiciary is there to bring them into their limits in case they try to violate and administrative law or the cross their limits. Into this scenario when the role of civil services needs to have a new look and we can expect that kind of bureaucracy which would be always learning and changing itself meeting the needs of the time to come.
